 Hi Peeps,
I've got a 2003 Disco with the ACE thing... problem is the dash warning light has come on and its now in the garage. the garage called today and told me it was one of three possible problems.. 1 the switch is nackered... 2 the hydrolic oil is contaminated and.....3 dirty diesil !!!!!!!!. the first 2 yes maybe but the idea that dirty fuel could upset the running of the ACE system has me worried.......worried that the garage are taking the urine.......any help chaps, dont wont to be taken for a ride, oh guess what is the most expensive.... yep the dirty fuel.......HELP

thanks Peeps.

Get your car back and take it somewhere that is familiar with Disco II's - this garage is obviously in the dark with this.

Get your car away from these idiots!!!!

ACE is basically two air bags that replace the rear suspension springs which in turn are hooked up to a compressor........no hydralic fluid, no diesel connection only a VERY expensive compressor and some electrical connections.

If they are LR dealers they should have a diagnostic computer that will tell them exactly whats wrong, they would not be guessing and suggesting possible faults.

Hope this helps

Nop the rear Air bags are part of the SLS system ... and have to be there if the car is a 7 seater in the uk

Active cornering enhancement is a totally seperate system to the air suspension. It has its own ECU,a pair of accelerometers,(upper and lower) a belt driven pump off the engine, pipe work to a valve block bolted to the chassis and a pair of hydraulic rams that push or pull on one end of the front and rear anti roll bars.
Using info from the lateral accelerometers the ECU will use hydraulic pressure to operate the rams via the valve block to try to keep the car level on corners or uneven ground.Common faults are oil leaks, seized pumps and the accelerometers needing calibration.
Fault codes in ACE systems are often cleared when you key off unlike virtually every other system so to retrieve an intermittent fault you need Testbook running in the cart whilst you drive to capture the cause of the light on.Often a recal on level ground is all that is needed.
