Got a problem with 200Tdi Gearbox. When I try and select any gear there is resistance at the stick and the box crunches as if the clutch is not engaging. Very difficult to engage an gear unless you really shove it in. However, the action on the clutch pedal seems normal - not spongey. I suspect synchro problem and hence maybe need new box. However, before I try and get a box and remove the existing one I would like to ensure that there isn't a cheaper alternative.
Anyone got any ideas - they would be much appreciated.

Remembered the following post from a few weeks back. Don't know the cost of a tube of Molybendum Disulphide but in yourt shoes, I'd give it go. Klick on the following link.

I'll see if I can get some but I suspect that it's a bit more serious - the thing really won't go into gear at all most of the time and is effectively undriveable - not just a notchy gearchange.

Difflock 5spd Gear oil worked wonders for my old 110's LT77 gearbox.I had crunching from 1st to second and second to third. This was very apparent when cold.1st to 2nd was sometimes impossible - but Difflock oil worked it's magic and after a couple of hours of filling the gearbox had "cured all the symptoms". Expensive but worth it.
