Hi guys, some thorts if u will. Have a 2004 TD4. Just got it back from LR after having a new engine fitted. Have noticed the fuel consumption seems excessive, compared to what it was........ have not had time to check exact figures out but fuel guage moves much quicker full->empty!!!

Around town I used to get around 35-40 mpg and 45+mpg on the motorway when I had my Td4. If I was a bit enthusiastic in my driving then I would get 40-45 mpg on the motorway. If fuel consumption went haywire it was usually as a result of a tyre with low pressure

Hi,
Well thats quite strange actually, because when I picked the car up from LR they told me that the two front tyres needed replacing.
I did not think that incorrect tyre pressures wud affect fuel consumption

Low tyre pressure can actually quite noticeably increase consumption, I suppose due to extra drag?
I get 37 mpg from my td4 on average.
What on earth was wrong with your engine that it needed replacing after only 3 years!!

Well there lies a tale!!! Broken Crankshaft when on holiday! LR initially refused to do owt, even tho only 5 weeks out of warranty. I think it had an inherent problem, as Turbo blew after we had it 2 days, We bought it 9month old with 6k on clock!!!! Friday afternoon car me thinks.
Eventually got near as damm 70% of the cost from them
