hi,i've just drove from bristol to stroud and twice my 99 plate 1.8 had a sudden loss of power and had to pull over on the motorway.I started it straight away and it was fine then it done the same about 10 miles later.I had revs on the engine but no pulling power any ideas anyone?

Hi. I have experienced exactly the same problem on my 1.8L 99 petrol too!!! :( And am also still trying to get to the cause of the problem. Have you figured out what had caused the problem on yours yet? As I see no one here has posted answers of any kind.

Sounds like the Head Gaskit's going :(
Is the car over heating?

no its not over heating loseing water or oil or anything that says its the head gasket.The guy from the RAC said it purrs like a kitten and followed me to 3 local garges said there was no smoke or nothing.All 3 garges said they didnt know what was wrong with it so its at the local LR main dealers mj fews down in charfield(even the RAC man couldnt get over there prices) cant wait for the bill:o
but the guy from the rac said his money was on the coil breaking down or the crank shaft sensor.

We had it a couple of times where the engine would cut out, wait a couple of minutes and away it went, then stopped again after a couple of miles. The fuel pump was failing.
If you plug a code reader in, nothing comes up, never does when the fuel pressure is the problem.
It it noisey under the osr seat?

i can hear the pump start up when the engine starts then its the same as its always been

Try the distrubitor cap, rotor and possibly the leads. HAd the same with mine and the rotor was shot.

you were right i got it back on saturday and they put on a new rotor arm and cap been ok since.(cost me £113.00 with the labour omg:o)
