View Full Version : Series II headlamps onto a 300 Tdi

I need to replace both headlamps on my 300Tdi as one is cracked and both have water sloshing around inside them.
I'm pretty sure pre-facelift series II headlamps will fit straight onto a 300Tdi (I've seen a series II with a series I lamp fitted on one side!?)
My question is does anyone know if the indicator assemblies and lamp finishers would fit too?

Just a quick reply to this. The indicators wont fit. They are deeper and larger units. As for the rest?....dont know, havent looked too closely. I suspect the headlamps MAY fit though. The finishers are different too to accomodate the D2's larger indicator lenses.

Yep, me too.The headlights are the same apart from the Sll being black inside.
As for the indicators..........well it will work but it's a lot of hassle.Don't forget, you need to be just right so it looks like a factory fit.If it's not done correctly it will spoil the front of the Disco and always look botched.
I wonder if it may not be easier to modify the 200 indicator and surround just for this part? Obviously losing the part of the surround that goes around the 200's smaller headlight.
I will have a look....

Had a good look at the 200 indicator and surround. It looks pretty viable to do. If you take a good look at the 300/TD5 headlight in situe , you can see there is a gap around it.If you are skilled enough you could trim the plastic 200 light surround, fit the 300/TD5 headlight and make it all fit snug with no gaps at all.I think I will try doing this just to see what can be acheived.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to go with the series II headlamps and retain the original indicators I think. Just trying to update the front end a bit and confuse people.
I bought a series III bonnet badge last week of ebay for a tenner and fitted that which makes a big difference. I had to heat the letters with a hairdryer and bend them slightly tho as it seems the new disco has a flatter leading edge to the bonnet.
