Hi everybody, new to the forum. Just bought my first Land Rover after wanting one for years.

It's a Discovery II 4.0L V8 ES, in metallic Kinversand.

Loads of good info on this site, picked up loads of tips already. :D

Hi Dan and welcome. I used to have a cat that used to drool everywhere Yuh. I'd probably get the hubby to clear up the mess if it had been a drooling dog;)

There are a few good lanes locally, the man to ask is Bush Tucker Man as he knows most of West Yorkshire and as he drives them in his heritage 110 most of them are fairly none damaging ;)

Hello Dan

Kiversand is a nice colour for a D2, almost as good as Green:D
(I'd like to see a Defender finished in that colour)

Thanks Helen:rolleyes:

I'll try if I can, but my knowledge is a bit rustier than it was, most of my spare time is spent on two-wheels at the moment, as you've read 'elsewhere'

One of my 'near-neighbours' is the best man for the job really.
Brian is a 'Green-Lane Guru', he planned the Pennine Way trip that featured over 2 issues of 'LRO' last year.

I'll pick his brains over any local re-classifications when I see him next

Cheers for that Bush Tucker Man, that would be great.

I'm suprised how many people local to me there are on here....... YorkshireLad lives in the same village as me, Helen lives close by and you live in Wakefield which is where I work.

I know Helen, her hubby & the 'off-spring' reasonably well and where they live, having been the grateful recipient of their hospitality a couple of times.

:scratchCh I've seen a Kinversand D2 a few times around Wakefield, and it's not exactly a common colour choice.
I'll look at it a bit closer next time, but if you see this 110 around (with its distinctive registration), or someone dressed in this manner (on that yellow bike) Wave!

There's more images of both, and plenty of Yorkshire ones you may recognise on my 'www' (http://community.webshots.com/user/bushtuckerman50100)
Have a browse & tell me what you think (now it holds about 2,800 images)

I like your Wakefield pictures. I see you have a piccy of my old school. It doesn't look remotely different (apart from a blue banner - probably advertising its centenary?) and it's an awful lot of years since I was there. Thank goodness. I think I enjoyed the pubs more. The Kings Arm pic is nice too. In fact Wakefield looks much nicer than I remember. Where are the pix of the Bull Ring, the bus station and the Athena coffee bar?

Are you in Featherstone - or just in the road cycling club? I never liked Featherstone or Castleford (especially their rugby clubs) - probably because I am from the other side of Wakefield and they were just so far away.

Ooops. Sorry BigDan. Should have said hello as I used to know Batley and Birstall too. I got carried away with Wakefield instead.

Hope you enjoy it on here.

Off-hand I can't think that there's many schools in there, apartfrom perhaps Manygates (for the memorial), QEGs & possibly WGHS

The bus station has gone, & there's a new one now where the (bus) garage was
Athena coffee-bar has gone too.
There's a lot of regeneration work down along by the Calder

Kate
No, just the Club. I've been a member for all the time I've been cycling.

I spent over 37years living around Stanley, but now live at the 'wrong side' of the Calder:rolleyes:

I didn't go to QEGs.:( Much as I might have liked to.:p No, it was WGHS, and the Wentworth House pic.

Can't expect things to stand still, and if regeneration and change brings in more jobs that will be good. There was bad unemployment and some run-down estates when I was younger.

Wrong side? Depends where you are looking from I guess. Someone once told me I lived on the "other" side of the High Street when I was in Gosforth (Newcastle). It took me all my time to afford to live in Gosforth at all, never mind the right side of the High Street.

Yeah i'll have to get a pic of her and post it on here. My D2 is usually trundling around the Durkar area of wakefield (work there just off junc. 39 M1) and along the Denby Dale road into Wakey (keep popping to the Weatherby Whaler:rolleyes:).
