Well alla bit strange. I had a noise like someone playing with one of those flick books as I put my foot down. Boost and power were still ok. While I was pondering this the guy behind me started fratically flashing me so guessing it was part of the same thing pulled up on the verge and turned off. At that point smoke poured out from the bonnet.
Tried emptying to big containers of water down the back of the bonnet and through the grill but no good. So yanked all the stuff out and had a bit of a weird call with 911 for the fire brigade. Apparently 10 miles from the A36 junction to Salisbury on the A303 on Chaddenwick hill heading to Salisbury was not enough. Got can you see any signs.....no no signs out here, there is just a lot of smoke......any other things ..... yes now theres flames and smoke and a big hill...this went on awhile. Seems odd that the RAC can trace you by phone but not the fire brigade.
Well once the fire brigade did there job ( who actually turned up quite quick after all that) I had 2 1/2 hours to wait and admire the modern art the front of the discovery had become and how the dash had an interesting curve then later sit in the back trying to keep warm and out of the rain in the dark guessing what bits had been on the centre consul before the fire hose blew it out the door.:(
