I thought I would delete some old programs from my computer,as it was starting to go rather slow, unfortunately I seem to have deleted some I need.

Specifically I cannot open attachments in emails or attach them to emails.

The message I get is:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the File Options Control Panel.

Now I deleted some old Adobe programs (4.1, 6.0), but I still have Adobe 8, and I suspect this is the problem.

Files already on the computer open okay, it is just email attachments.

Word socuments and pictures open and attach okay, it's just PDF files which seem to be effected.

I am a little slow on these things, so take it easy on me :-)

Any help greatfully received.

Try downloading and reinstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader

Just deleting them will not free things up much. Software makes entries into the operating system's registry so the operating system knows it is there. These entries will still be present if you just delete the associated files to the software. That is why it is recommended to use uninstall functions first and then manually clean up the final bits yourself.
