Have just got back from a couple of weeks in Morocco. We were part of a group and we covered the RIF mountains and the Sahara. We had a fantastic time and would definately recommend it.
It was a mix of camp sites, hotels and wild camping. The scenary was great and the off roading was brilliant.
A word of warning about European Breakdown cover. We broke down on our way back to Spain on the last day and called the RAC for recovery. We had full European cover and thought it would be a doddle to get our Landy repatriated.
First thing, dont expect things to happen in a hurry in Spain, they do things in their own good time, and every time you need help its Siesta time!
Next thing, make sure you have plenty of credit on your phone, as you will have to call a number in France, regardless of who you have cover with. This increases the delays.
We had to wait to find out if they would bring our Landy back. They had to check the market value of our Landy, and if it was lower than the repatriation costs then they would not repatriate it. If it had been lower then we would have been given the option of leaving it in Spain to have the repairs done at our cost, or the Landy scrapped and given the market value.
Next we had to wait to see if the policy limit actually covered the cost of repatriation. The limit was £2500, and out of this come ALL costs, ie hotels, taxis, hire cars and repatriation etc. So be careful how much you spend/claim, make sure there is enough left over for the repatriation of your vehicle.
It also takes about 10~14 working days, once the paperwork is sorted, for your vehicle to get home.
All of these issues has in no way changed our minds about going to Morocco again, we had a great time. I have attached a few photo's of some places we visited and camped.
Cheers
