Looking for some land to use my air rifle on? Beds/Herts area

Hello,

I have recently aquired my two new air rifles. A '22' Weihrauch HW97K and a '22' BSA Lightnight. Both with BSA 3-9x40 scopes.

My plan is to import them to Ireland in a few months so I can use them on may parents farmland.

However I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with finding some land in and around the area that I live in so I can zero my scopes, practice plinking and maybe shoot some pests.

I live in Leighton Buzzard, Beds.

I'm not a mentalist and will abide by any code that is required. I know the UK gun law inside out and safety comes first. I have owned air rifles for many years but a recent move to a more built up area means a shortage of places to use them.

I am even willing to pay a few quid or handover any rabbits etc for the cooking pot.

Just thought I would ask on here first prior to doing the rounds asking some local farmers.

There is a shooting range somewhere in either Markyate or Caddington where my old neighbour used to take his air rifles for target practice. If you're still looking for somewhere let me know.

hi there are a load of members on pigeonwatchforums.co.uk that are in your area, drop a post on there and you will pick up plenty of ground i did and have met loads of shooters and been out all over the uk doing different types of shooting for free.

you will get more credibility when seeking a shooting permission if you can prove you have the appropriate insurance because rest assured there are guys waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you in the game that do along with every other trick in book ready to canvas for permission.

I have one suggestion if it helps, get an evening job for a couple nights a week in a country pub, you get to meet the local land owners and and they are always friendly to their local barman, it worked for me and before you know it I had a couple of hundred acres to shoot on, its gotta be worth a go, admittedly its getting a job thats difficult these days.
