Default How do you jump start 24 volt vehicles?

    Hi,

I've got a LWT with 2 flattened batteris, hardly enough juice to turn the motor. Was wondering if you can jump start a 24v vehicle with a 12v vehicle as my mate will be around with his 110.

    cheers

If he has a 110 its probably better just to tow start it

Depends on your battery set up, if you have two 12v batteris connected to give you 24v then you can try jumping one battery from the 110, have tried this before on my landy with a 12v battery pack.. it didn't like it!

Ended up getting towed around a field with people laughing at me lol! Once it starts check you're getting around 28v over the two batteries and leae it run for a while to give them some life...

As I said though, best bet is a tow start in second/third gear.

As Satancom says, if it's that flat bump start it with a tow.

Use the starting handle, then you're self-sufficient.

I'm not surprised it didn't like it. Even though you were only connected across one battery you were still trying to drive a 24v starter motor with a 12v supply which means it will draw twice the current.

As above, probable best to bump start it with a tow.
    What would Jack Bauer do?

    Done this before.
Jump charge one flat battery for a while then change the jump leads to the other flat battery and then try to start.
