    High(est) Specification Equipment - top of the range model in other words
    88 miles per hour in my '88 Rangie and the Flux Capacitor didn't kick in......

    That's sounds plausible. Is that official? Or did you just guess? I've had 3 range rover's and never once seen that in an owners manual or anywhere else. Land Rover of Houston told me it means "having all options except super charged engine" Land Rover of Portland OR told me HSE has no meaning>

    HSE top Model (Petrol)
    DSE Top Model (Diesel)

    Then there are Vogue Model as above but top model with some more extres ???

    There was a DHSE towards the end of the P38 production cycle.

    No idea what the D means though. (Distributorless?)

    hi all, the SE stood for special equipment, while the HSE stood for higher special equipment, the DSE was diesel special equipment, the DHSE was a diesel powered car with all the toys of the petrol powered HSE that was introduced when diesel boomed in the late 90's, and diesel cars were no longer seen as the poor mans / tightwads choice. L/R houston are talking rubbish about the supercharger thing, as SE, and HSE were in use years before land rover started using superchargers, which even now are of course borrowed from jaguar.
