"Service Engine Soon" warning light

I have a 2000 Disco II with 97000 miles on it and I love this vehicle. I was driving yesterday on the interstate and the Service Engine Soon light came on and will not go off. I had my mechanic check the code and reset the light, it stayed off for another 5 miles and then came back on, Does anyone have any ideas for me to follow. Thanks in advance,
