...I found this little chap. Only about 2 inches long, just a babe I assume but very exciting. It makes a change from the slugs and snails

I had one sunbathing under my landy about 2 months ago, my cat spotted it and chased. I locked the cat in the house and the lizard was back sunbathing a little later.

A few days later my cat brought it in with her Not seen any more!

The decking by my back door is shared by a hedgehog with a thing for black grapes and a field mouse that'll only eat slugs if I cover them in salt!

Until the weekend when we needed to evict him(living in our old washing machine) we also had a rather large frog with very little personality

The pond is now a housing estate.

The newts must have grown out of their pond homes and wanted something a bit more sophisticated then, i didn't realise newts had the skills to build something like that

Ditto Kitform, although in my case it has become a school and it was fifty years ago.

hey its good or bad news, could be one of those rare rattle-jack black crested newts, nimbies dream or property developers nightmare. One near us and just ONE cost 150K to remove.

I thought newt, in which case don't you need a special certificate from DEFRA or something to touch it or move it on?

I remember the day the digger came and cut a trench to drain the cow pond into the brook. Its in the middle of a housing estate noe but not built on, its in the corner of a playing field. I think the council did it in case a kisd drowned or something. That was full of newts. Shame the anti-newt bothering laws aren't retrospective. Another complete cock up by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, I don't miss that place one bit.

yeap and you'll not be allowed to do any building work, drive on the site and have to pay for all that 4 foot high poly fence stuff to be put up, left for a year while they try to catch the odd one.
