Question How to remove door hinge bolts?

Does anyone know a good way of removing the bolts from the door hinges.

My bolt and hinges have auto paint all over them (at least two layers), and they are stuck well good. I've tried force with a screw driver but no use. Don't think they have ever been unscrewed

    Cheers

Take the inner door card off and undo the nuts on the inside of the door.

Its good engineering practice to always turn the nut instead of the bolt if possible.

    Hi,

Not sure if we're both thinking of the same thing, but couldnt you just drill out the heads of the door hinge "screws" they have a large screw head dont they. My S3 ones were rusted solid into the bulkhead, so I just drilled with a huge drill (10 or 12mm i think) bit until the head dropped off and you can just pull the hinge off. As long as you stop drill as soon as the head starts spinning you dont damage the hinge and the hinge screws are something like 73P, if they're chewed up already you've got nothing to loose! Certianly the fastest way for me to remove mine!

If you are talking about the ones in the A pillar I found the only way was to drill them out, My experince was if they didn't come undone easily drill them out otherwise you risk breaking the nut loose inside and it just spins when you try to drill it out, then you have to resort to jamming a screw driver between the hinge and pillar to try and clamp it ( not so clever if youare not planning to replace the A pilar as I was).

If its the A pillar bolts I use a impact driver, very rarely fails to shock them off. If it does then drilling is really the only option as mentioned.

I tried to remove mine using an impact driver, but had no joy, so I used my electric drill / driver, with the appropriate screwdriver bit, and it worked a treat. If the driver doesn't immediately undo the bolt, then try tightening it, this can sometimes break it's seal. I've never had to drill a bolt out yet by using this method.

Impact driver works for me, - or an 8mm drill. Take the hinge off, then snap what's left.

What is awkward is when the spire nut spins as well. Plenty of coppergrease on assembly, and you can get the stainless hex CSNK bolts for them.
