Handbrake cable adjustment

My TD5 auto makes a rattling noise changing up in the gears at 2250 rpm. Somewere on a forum I read this is due to the adjustment of the handbrake cable.

Does anyone know if I need to adjust the cable from the top, so at the lever or at the other end at the brake disc itself

Hi Paul

On my TD5 which is year 2000, there is adjustment for the handbrake cable from underneath the car, right up below the handbrake. From memory, later cars have the adjustment inside the car between the tunnel and the handbrake.

thanks, I'll try and find it in the weekend, hope I can help it with some adjustment, will put the stronger strings in the handbrake at a later time to solve it forgood.

Hi Paul

The TD5 Haynes manual gives details of both type of adjuster. I ended up just adjusting my hand brake using the drum adjuster. My handbrake was a little weak for the last MOT.

My boat is a Hardy Pilot. It's 20' and has a Yamaha 80hp 4-stroke outboard. I bought my Discovery to tow this after upgrading from a smaller Hardy.

Thanks, I'll start with that adjuster because it's the easiest to get to and see if it's enough.

Most of the boats I build for compagnies so it depends on what they are selling. I also design myself, our latest is about to start building, must ssay that the new site is "sort off under construction" and the design has been changed from the design on the site. www.krafter.nl
