As you have found its only available as a complete shaft, you can't even by the rubber boot separate.
Best i can suggest is that you often see the front part of the shaft for sale second hand on ebay.

Thanks it is a joke at landrover make you buy the whole shaft just becuse the bearing is gone.
There may be many reasons that LR do not see fit to make this an available part. It may be a safety matter. It might be that it is a unique part and they have an agreement with the manufacturer. We don't know so we have to accept it, I'm afraid.
And to be honest in 5 years I don't think I have heard of many of them failing. Are there many threads on here about it?

That is common, Renault won't supply the rubber drive coupling as a seperate part, it's a complete shaft set. We get them from a place in Wales.
I have a couple of Freelander prop sets with seized VCs, if it's the front CV joint you want, PM your address or come and collect one.

I've got a Freelander V6 2.5 2001 auto that I've just bought and I was shocked to discover that a split gaiter entails having to replace the whole shaft. Can't someone design one that fits over the top with a couple of jubilee clips? Anyway if you've got a prop how much to supply/send it to me?
Does anyone know if I can fit a new output shaft bearing without taking the IRD off? This is where the flange goes from the front section of the the rear prop into the IRD. I've seen posts saying it can be done on the Discovery but not sure about the Freelander.
Any advice gratefully received.
