    Question 4.6 into 2

Hi all, i've got the chanceof a 4.6 RR engine, my question is, how hard is it to fit into my 2a.
It currently has a 3.5v8 in.
Has anyone done this, or know of any pitfalls of doing such a swap?

    Thanks in advance.

    Default Bigger the better

The 4.6 will fit staight in as the crankcase is basically the same as far as the bell housing and mounts is concerned. That's the easy bit, now then.
Are the brakes up to it? This is quite important!
What condition is the gearbox in?
how about the rear diff and drive shafts?
    All UJs OK?
You will have to upgrade the radiator as the 4.6 needs more cooling than the 3.5.
    New carb and manifold.
New fuel pump (high output!) and fuel pipes.
Although a standard exhaust will "do", a stainless spots system is more benefit - Ooops, no one makes one for an 88, you will have to cobble the back bit up like I did!
Have a word with the insurance first - most won't touch you. I went with NFU, just renewed at £150 TPF&T.
Bigger battery as the bigger motor takes a bit more spining from cold (new battery leads too are good here.)
I have a RR 3 speed auto in mine which, as it was actually a Yank design for big V8s is fine and dandy and also gives the rest of the transmision a relatively easy time. I also have permanent 4wd which shares the load out. A standard 4.6 shoves out a lot more power than a 2.25 make sure that he rest of the vehicle is up to it! The 4.6 shoves out more HP and torque at 1500 rpm than the standard 2.25 does at full power! If you need more ifo emal me direct and you can pop for a look or we can meet up somewhere perhaps

Gaph stolen unashamedly from the RPi site. I hope Chris Crane doesn't mind the publicity.

Be honest Alan, V8 starter motors, produce more power than a 2.25!

    Default 4.6 into 2

I have a servo fitted already for the brakes, it's got 1 new prop shaft, rear diff overhauled recently, it's got a BIG battery on it already.

Does any one know where you can buy flexible exhaust from, cant seem to get it from my local garage.

    Default ?

Why do you need flexi exhaust? The old manifolds etc. will fit straight on the 4.6. Or is the old exhaust knackered? Fit 4 branch pipes and a SS exhaust. Mine were from Rimmers but I had to coobble the pipe from the box up as they dont do an 88" V8 coiler system for some reason.
