Pro Comp Shock

Hello,

Im planning to go to morocco next year and currently have some procomp shocks on the vehicle. Ive heard mixed things about them, i only brought them because they are cheap about a year ago and the vehicle is used in tyros on a monthly basis.

have people had any experienecs good or bad with them?

If you do a forum search you'll find hundreds of opinions on them. If you're happy with them and had no problems I wouldn't worry. Perhaps take a couple spares with you though, they'll get a good work out in Morocco.

As above, use them and throw them away, I use +2 inch Pro Comps on the racer, they only last about 2 or 3 events if I am lucky, but at £26.00 each they are still a lot easier on my wallet than some of the remote reservoir, nitrogen filled super duper models (that everyone else who beats me uses )

I habve them on my truck, been on there 3 or 4 years. No problems although the fronts need changing as they have been battered by something, possibly trees/rocks im not sure. Anyhow I would buy them again!

me too - ive had them about 6 years and they're still fine but i dont do a lot of off roading. they're the es9000.

Which ones would people recommend as suitable replacement for longevity

My only gripe about ProComp dampers is that the pistons rust very rapidly if the rubber boot is fitted. Their lifetime warranty should take care of that, though.

My procomps on the series are starting to rust without the boots there. Same for the rears on my bro's 90. and they are newer than mine.

I honestly don't see what people do see in them. They wayy too soft for on road use IMHO. Wonderful offroad to a point.

i brought them originally because of their cost, or lack of it! Im looking at OME shocks but given their hefty price tag i think ill fix some other things that need fixing e.g. clutch and cooling system before 'fixing' things that are ok.

I took the discovery to poland and back on pro comps and it sagged at the back so i can see what you all are saying! I had to be careful on dirt tracks as well with speed on some bumps as the back would bottom out.

I have had the same procomps on the front of my 90 for 5 years and no problems.

The rear ones on the other hand .... broke 3 in 12 months (2 on strata florida, at the same time, half way along. The rest of the journey was a little bouncy). The 'eyes' are the problem as the weld snaps. I fitted some of these and fixed the problem.
