    Default Complete newbie!

I just joined & thought I'd say hello!
As if you haven't guessed I am a complete newbie when it comes to the world of 4x4's (other than the defenders I occasionally get get to drive at Her Majesties request)!
I've just bought myself a brand spanking new (ok X reg so not exactly brand spanking new lol) Freelander 1.8 5dr GS to replace my current Rover 45 IXL with exactly the same engine. I get her in a couple of days & after reading the forums quite a lot thought I'd join, drop a line & say hi!

I know I'm probably gonna get stick for (A) buying a Freelander & (B) choosing one with that engine but I can't afford to run a Range Rover yet, I'm not all that keen on the Discovery & at 6ft 4in tall I struggle to fit in a Defender! The engine choice is purely because I already have a spare should I need it... (Since strangely it's the only thing that still works properly on the Rover!)

    Cheers
    Mike G

Still one of my favourite places, and not just because I was born there.
Dad was stationed at Kinloss, we lived at 1 Drainie Road. Still have an ex- sister in law who lives in Elgin.
Remember things like tobogganing down the snow-covered hangers in the winter - are the grass-covered ones still there? And crossing the golf course to have a picnic lunch on the beach - must be one of the best beaches in the world

Things are still the same, well you don't get much tobogganing down the grassy hangers (at least not while the boss is looking anyways!)
I'm down the west beach with my dogs most days, when it isn't absolutely caning it down outside that beach is only a few mins away from my house so it's just perfect for me!

Been living there since about 1991 so I'm kind've an adopted local now!
