Default AA just lost another customer (warning another insurance rant)

I had my range rover insured with the AA, swapped it onto the 110 cost me an extra £50 for a few months plus £25 for the details to be changed. swapped it to a manx reg and then got hit for another £25 admin fee.

just got a renewal last year it was £250 ish this year £403.20 on the best offer letter, on thier website i got it down to £203.25

then tried go compare and who comes out best yep AA at £115.

then they have sent me a renewal for my breakdown cover @ £120 was under £65 last yr so they can stuff that as well.

have just been on to Peter Best and added the 110 to my other policy for £69 till renewal in june and then under £240 for both vehicles from then on.

best bit is although the no claims isnt in use on this policy they record it so although you dont still accumulate any extra no claims if you leave or buy a normal vehicle they will give you evidence of your existing balance so i wont lose my 5 yrs no claims.
and they include breakdown cover in policy.

now i have the joy of calling the AA to cancel all renewals and then the bank to block direct debits for when they inevitably renew it anyway. they have taken the pish for the last time.

No good calling the bank......I spoke to LLoyds the other day about a very similar thing, and they want it in writing and are very reluctant to give you a signature to say that they received the letter by hand from you. Do check your bank account regularly AA are a big culprit for letting a couple of months go by and then re-submitting to the bank who quite often just pay it. At least if you have a copy of the letter and a signature you can threaten them with legal action. In that past the only way to stop this has been to close the account and still the bank will pay it and then come after you for the money. Does anybody work in the banking industry? do they receive a lucrative fee for paying monies to these institutions? they do seem reluctant to stop this near fraud.

    I bank online with Halifax.

If I want to stop any direct debits I use the dropdown box go to stop payments and save changes. (or summat like that)

    No signatures or paperwork.

    Easy peasy.

Flux wanted some stupid amount last year so I tried confused and got it down to £170 all in

Had a similar issue with AA breakdown cover last month. Paid around £70 for breakdown cover for my first year, then got a renewal of around £150. Called them up and asked them what they were playing at, all I got was a muppet telling me all prices have gone up, it's not their fault and previous discounts are cancelled, even though I never used them Cancelled breakdown cover there and then, now with RAC for little over £70 (Monthly Direct Debit), with a discount next year and any following years if I don't need/use them.

had problems with insurance and breakdown cover...now insure with the nfu, who always look after us and got cheap horse box cover as well thrown in.....renewed the aa cover with a rep at the supermarket 2 days after the last one ran and got it cheap again.....never renew your existing cover with them ..they always charge loads more ..cancel and start again for best price....my mate just switches between the rac and AA alternatively and uses the other to get the best price....seems to work!!
