Default 3 Amigos and park brake light

Guys yet again my lights have come on (3 amigos and park brake) I have had them reset 3 times in 2 months. Would I be right I saying I need a new sensor as the diag kit has the same error each time "bad rh front abs sensor connection"
I also fitted a wire for me to use a lamp with from the battery with an in line fuse with spade connectors on the end as it's for temporary use and since fitting it the lights have come straight back on from having them reset today, without even moving the damn car!

    Any thoughts?!

Was the exact wording "Right hand front sensor electrical failure" ?

If it is an electrical failure then i would say the sensor needs replacing but i dont ever remember seeing the 3 amigos with the brake light too

Last year i wire'd up an MSA radio to my disco 2. i connected the positive wire to the Battery and the negative wire to one of the earth studs on the wing between the battery and the home for the Bottle jack. There are 2 Earth studs here. well apparently the car had all sorts of Problems with warning lights and a rear wiper that would work of it's own accord!!
Once i swapped the radio earth connection to the other Earth Stud all was well!!!

This is what is puzzling me. When all the lights are on the abs tc and hdc don't work at all. Other people say to just get used to the lights but I need these things working for the off road shooting use I have with the vehicle. I will get the sensor replaced, am I right In thinking that the new sensors don't have the middle connection by the wheel arch? If so is it hard to fit direct to the ecu? Thanks.

Does anyone know why the park brake light is on as well though? is this an ecu problem?

Either low brake fluid or a bad switch. The "electrical failure" code means the sensor has gone open circuit, usually because the conductors snap inside the insulation.
Genuine sensors do have the long lead that goes right back to the ecu, which is a pain.If you get a sensor from a Britpart or Bearmach agent,it will still be a genuine WABCO unit - but will have the same plug/lead as the original. When you fit the new sensor throw away the O ring and seal the sensor with a small amount of silicone.Be VERY careful to ensure the sensor is FULLY seated as their output is very weak.

There are certain electrical conditions (not related to the ABS sensors) that will trigger the Three Amigos.

Backfeeding the stoplight circuit is one possible, I had a trailer plug wiring misconnection and it brought them up, vehicle was stationary, engine off, just checking the connections after fitting a new plug to the trailer. The sidelight and stoplight circuits were crossed.

So there are probably other conditions that makes the ECU fire the warnings apart from a sensor failure, and it probably only has the one way of flagging a fault.

The handbrake switch certainly could do with checking, and the brake fluid level switch.

Well! Disco has been in today for new rh front abs sensor and at first the guys thought the new sensor was faulty but they have said that there is no signal being read in the hub? The correct voltage is being received over all 4 wheels but there is still a problem with all the lights coming on. Does anyone have any clues?

    Max:

There has to be a signal from each sensor, and those signals have to agree with each other within fairly close parameters or the system will flag a fault.

There is no signal when the vehicle is stationary, the system also allows for that.

So, you have replaced the sensor that was flagged as faulty, but you still have the 3 Amigos coming on?

Were the 3 Amigos and the fault codes cleared after the new sensor was fitted and before the new part was tested?

Are there any fresh fault codes, or are the original ones still there?

Was the old sensor found to be faulty in any way? open-circuit?

Is the handbrake light still coming on, with the handbrake off?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but diagnostics requires a lot of info!

Yes,I bet they have forced the sensor in with its O ring still fitted,(I have a DII hat my workshop at the moment which had the original sensor o ring AND the new one in it.) this bends the sensor very slightly and holds it fractionally away from the reluctor ring.DII ABS sensors give a VERY weak output at the best of times,so even a slight increase of airgap will give a "Low ouput" or "Signal Erratic" fault.
