Had the bonnet up again today, looking for the oil leak which is ****ing all over the front.
Took off top intercooler pipe - loads of oil present, pipe was wet inside.
Took bottom intercooler pipes off - loads of oil again
Took I/C out and tipped a half-cup of oil out, washed out, dried it, refitted.
Thoughts were leaning towards turbo bearings going and letting oil by.
Took turbo inlet pipe off, the compressor was ok to turn, no scraping sounds but with slight radial play in shaft, maybe 1-2mm. Then i see oil inside the filter-to-turbo pipe
So, do i have a duff/dieing turbo OR is it all being sucked through by the crankcase PCV filter/system which feeds in just before the turbo??
I believe the filter on the rocker box can be washed out but the book says i need a gasket to re-fit?
BTW, the PAS pipes look ok, the oil was leaking from very poorly fitted intercoooler pipes which have now been fitted properly.
There does not seem to be too much smoke out the back, can these engines run-away on oil??
