    Default Galvanised bulkhead companies?

Good morning all i was wondering if any one here has had a galvanised bulkhead fitted to there landrover. I have googled it and found obviously ashtree which seem very expensive but should be good quality, also a company called landrover bulkheads they seem a bit cheaper and can refurbish my own bulkhead. Can anyone tell me if they have used either company and if they are any good or not, and if there are any other companys you have used that are also good. thanks in advance. It would be for a series 3 109 v8.

I've had replacement bulkhead, front rad panel and body cappings from Ashtree. I've been very satisfied with them. You can see the weld mark where new corner posts were welded on but apparently the galv / zinc sticks thicker where welding has been don - something to do with the silicone in the weld but others can probably comment more accurately. They weld in original style foot panels with the ribs in them. Each bulkhead also has numbers stamped / pressed into the drivers footwell so it can be identified as an Ashtree one if need arrives in the future. I spoke with them at Dunsfold show last weekend and they are almost at the point of being able to manufacture brand new ones for series 1 & 2's.
All he products I bought off them fitted fine - no warping

I had a S3 repaired and galvanised by Ashtree. Oh, and the front panel too. As I didn't mined waiting they did a pick up and drop of service for me too. Very happy. No alignment/warping issues other than the normal LR panel gaps

It wasn't the quickest turn around ever, but then again, I did say to them I was in no rush... Agreed a cheaper price as supplying bulkhead and f'panel which didn't need massive rework. Don't know if price on website is for worse case or standard exchange or outright TBH!
But Lyn was very helpful and easy to communicate with throughout...

I contacted ashtree and lyn seemed like a nice guy said the price would be as quoted on site if they fixed my bulkhead and it would take upto 4 weeks. He said they could collect it this week (too soon for me). Before I use nearly 1000 of my hard earned has any one used any other company's. thanks

you could take one bulkhead and get a local fabricator to weld it up, then blast it and galv it, after making a frame from some thick steel.

I did my own (welding) , and got it galved at Wolverhampton , no warping and no frame fitted , if the galv firm do it properly you wont get warping , I did a chassis in mid 70's (gen LR) as that was all there was back then , done by a firm in Reading ,(doesnt exist anymore!) again no problems (vehicle still in use ) . Its a very cheap process , as they charge by weight usually , i got several other brackets and the fuel filler tube done at the same time as bulkhead . HTSH

I spent 80 0n a spare bulkhead and welded that up then had it shotblasted and galvanised for about 320.
Took me a lot of time as I was working as well.

Worth remembering, if your doing this your self, that you need to strip off all the internal paint / sealant / wax from inside the bulkhead for the galvanising. Some places may be able to do this but a general galvanisers wouldn't as they will normally get new, untreated steel parts.
