Thread: Headlight Beam Pattern

  1. #1

    Default Headlight Beam Pattern

I have just replaced sealed beam headlights for the halogen upgrade on paddocks as it was mot time and a bulb had blown. however i then failed the mot because the beam pattern was not right. He said it was not defined. It definitely wasn't because of the adjustment, I asked that, it was due to the pattern itself being wrong. I thought the beam pattern was fixed and couldn't be changed.
    Any ideas?

Bulb position plays huge part in beam projection ... make sure you have seated the bulbs correctly and the right way round ... many people fit the bulbs upside down etc ....

The bulb is definitely in properly and the right way around it only fits one way. I swapped the bulb for a few different ones I had and they were all different, one was better so used that one, but still not as sharp a pattern as the other side.

If it's the same kit as I bought from Padocks, then the lamps are Wipac.
Really can't fault them and cheap too!

The improved bulb was enough to pass the MOT so will keep it as that, they are the WIPAC ones. Huge improvement over the originals.
