TD4 Hse fuel burning heater

How do all been keeping an eye on the goings on in the freelander world and have just taken the plunge and made a (what i think is a prime purchase) of a TD4 Hse freelander with a few extras on it.I was just enquireing as to the fuel burning heater in this vehicle is it any good !!! for starters,also i ordered my vehicle 2 weeks ago on tuesday thursday got call from dealers telling me that i could not have the spec that i ordered as they no longer do the fuel burning heater,and heated screen in the HSE now but you now get free met paint and volumeteric alarm as standard. Did this annoy me Yes!!! however my dealer in sheffield has been sound and tracked down one with all but the dark glass in it and it arrived friday.
I was woundering if any one else has paid for the heater upgrade and was it worth it!!!!

give the fuel burnin heater a wide bearth

no good on very short runs ,not needed on long runs also will go wrong and you can get funny smell in car when it is on

Thanks Tosh i thought that it would cut down on engine wear as it also heats up the water system,have had the optional timer fitted so as in the winter the vehicle will be warm when i need to use it!!!!!!!! could be a big mistake then!!!!!!!!!

hi friend its what ever takes your fancy,but just remember the ones without heaters run just as well ,but id fancy havin a nice warm car on a cold winters morn

They must have only very recently changed the spec. I bought my TD4 HSE 2 weeks ago and have the heated screen, heated seats and as far as I know the fuel burning heater although with the weather currently as it is I tend to be making use of the Air Con at the mo .

Well had vehicle for 24 hours so far very pleased with it appart from the fuel burning heater started it this morning worked well (notice past tense !!!) started for 5 mins and stopped never to start again !!!! took it to dealer who after spending 45mins under dash started to scratch it saying got to get some one from factory to look at this and booked me in for wed all day!!!!! mind you good thing managed to have a play with the offroad track at the dealers !!!!! can't wait for my half day's off roading.
