the cheap britpart calipers are just fine. weigh up the cost and time. by the time you have had the old calipers shot blasted , got new seals and pistons etc, its far more than the 35 quid calipers. as for stainless pistons , is it worth it. if the new calipers last 5 years before you bin them then its still cheap. ? mind you, britpart do stainless pistons now, dont they ??

OK, bought the Britpart calipers. Seem OK, but I had to drill out the mounting holes as they were too small to take the bolts😳
Also struggled to get the brake pipe connector thread to "take", but ran an old one through it first and that seemed to do the trick. The pads went in with a bit to spare, so obviously the old caliper pistons were the problem. Cheers for all the helpful advice!👍👍

I am very surprised you had to drill out the holes for the caliper bolts. Something is obviously not the proper part/component.

35 a caliper is almost cheaper than genuine parts pads (60.97+vat). At that price might as well change the calipers every time you change the discs

They were Disco 1 Cali pets which was what I ordered. Unless there are two types of rear Cali pets for Disco 1? Anyway it was less than a mm difference and easily fixed. I'm guessing most Land Rover owners are practical enough to sort it, as it wasn't a big deal and I only mentioned it to provide additional feedback to the group. Remainder of calliper was great and the pads, springs, pins all fitted perfectly. I agree - it is hardly worth messing about. Just get new ones every time and bleed the system😀👍. Looks really good now with the new discs as well.
