    What is a 4 pin diff? Most people on the forums assume that we all know what we are talking about, but not here I'm afraid.
    is there anyway I can find out if the TD5 axle is the same as the NAS V8 anniversary one? the 50th anniversary that I had was made in the same year, so I am assuming that they are the same thing.
    surely they wouldn't manufacture a different one just for 350 of the 50th ones.

    Hopefully these links should show the difference between the, stronger, 4 pin differential and the standard 2 pin differential as fitted to other 90s

    There is a way to tell externally, it is something to do with the webs on the casting of the differential carrier but at the moment I cannot remember. I will have a look at my 4 pin front diff tonight then see if I can get a look under a 90 tomorrow.

    As for whether Land Rover standardised them on later vehicles I couldn't tell you

    The serial number of the axle should also indicate whether it was originally fitted with a 4 pin diff

    Oh I see now the pictures explain it all, I will see if I can find out the serial number this weekend and hope they are the better 4 pin ones.
