    Default Series 2a engine colour

I just bought a late series 2a Land rover LHD (export) with diesel engine and wanted to know what was the engine colour as doing a bit of reading online it seems that it was duck egg blue, but my engine looks like it might have been red. Can anyone shed some light on that, were export vehicles painted in different colour?
    Cheers

generally speaking, 5 main bearing engines were painted terracotta red, 3 main bearing "light admiralty grey" which is the duck egg you mention.

5 main bearing diesels fitted from august 1980, petrol from december 1980, i.e well into series 3.

so either you have a series 3 engine, or you have a series 2a engine which someone has painted red.

Or a series three with dodgy paperwork. It's not uncommon.

Or maybe it is a Santana engine, mine is a 79 S3, 3 main bearing diesel, LHD.

Does the engine number start with an E? Mine is E89000XX.

ahh thats what it might be. Mine starts with E486A2493... though all the paper work along with chassis number clearly make it a series 2a export built in UK, 1970 model. So would I be right in thinking that at some stage the engine has been changed?

Color looks about the same, Looks the same color as the Chevrolet V8 engines from the 60's.

I believe mine is the original engine. I believe the Santanas were assembled in Spain.

There are a few Series LR here in Panama.

Mine was this colour - so when it came to the rebuild I copied it over. They call it Duck Egg Blue
