    Default Hammerite

    Just bought V8i 1995 auto Does anyone know if it is ok to paint the underside with hammerite, or will it cause problems

    i did it to my somewhat abused chassis on me 110 an it dont seeem to rust any more . it works best iff you shot blast the rusty bits off an only paint the bits you need to. It neeed a repaint bout evy year tho if you abuse yer trukk!!

    top tip wear a good mask when removing rust a a pair o googles keeeps all manner of **** out yer eyes.

    We used it extensively on a Series One and some Series Threes. Works fine.

    Default Is this Hammerite paint Waxoyl?

    I see in my '97 Disco some coating like parafin in the whole underside.
    Is this the paint about you write in this thread?

    That will be underseal or waxoyl, which is made by the same manufacturer = Finnigans.

    Smile Painting with Hammerite

    Thanks for the advice These Disco's are really long when you are underneath. But I,ve started painting from the back I should be finished in ....well I,ll let you know in a month or so!

    Hammerite is good but prone to chipping, so do not put preservative on top of it in case water gets trapped and you cannot see it.

    I have used black Waxoyl and that leaves a good finish with good protection but is not a hard finish.

    Worth giving the Dinitrol products a look they have faired well in recent tests
