Thread: TD5 Gearbox oil

    Default TD5 Gearbox oil

Bought job lot oil from local trade as per 110 TD5 Spec:

    - 10L X-Tech semi-synth (Engine)
    - 5L EP80/90 Gear Oil (Diffs)
    - 5L AQM (Comma Dexron 2)

Is the AQM (Auto transmission Fluid) the right stuff?

I commented it was a manual box but they said it is fine...

    have a look through http://www.landrovernet.com/forum/sh...132#post900132

For a while now manual gearboxes have been recommended the same oil as automatics. It seems flow through the oil pump is the important thing, not gloopyness. However transfer boxes still get EP90. (don't think they have a pump)

If you haven't done the diffs yet you might want to consider one of the graphite containing additives. Also on the rear be very carefull putting the filler plug back in. They can be a bit of a slack fit and go right in.
