TGB Rider Earns Record Place
Le Mans may be one of the annual pilgrimages for UK Motorsports fans. The air is filled with the scream of powerful engines and the smell of high octane fuel, hot rubber and smoking brakes. However, around on the other side of the world the Parklands Go-Kart track on Australia’s Gold Coast is home to another 24 hour event – the High Roller Energy Le Minz.
A far cry from the legendary French event, Le Minz is a 24 hour endurance race for 50cc Scooters. In early September 25 scooters and their riders lined up for the Le Minz Scooterthon on the tight, undulating circuit at Parklands and on starters orders set off on their gruelling marathon. Pit stops and refuelling were at the rider’s discretion, with a mandatory pit stop at the three hour mark.
The event solo rider winner and new Guinness World Record was 18-year old Jake Dolan on a TGB 101S, the individual rider winner, who clocked up an incredible 1178.76 kilometres at the event’s midday finish. Jake’s name will replace former record-holder Julio Languillier as the rider to complete the longest distance on a 50cc scooter over a 24-hour period.
The winning of the event by a rider on a TGB 101S confirms the reliability and endurability of the TGB product. The event, for 50cc Scooters, takes endurance racing back to what it was originally about – the proving of a bike’s ability to last the distance. TGB’s victory in this event adds another layer of credibility to the Taiwanese manufacturer’s claim to provide a top quality, reliable entry level two-wheeler designed for the Western market.
The TGB range of Scooters and Quads is distributed in the UK and Ireland by Astro General Corporation of Grange over Sands in Cumbria. Managing Director Trevor Barnett says, “The TGB scooter range is quite unlike many other far-east sourced scooters. It is designed for the Western market and is a European-specification product. TGB comes with an entry level price but it also comes with top quality components as would be expected from one of the worlds leading Scooter manufacturers.” And with 200 dealers across the UK and a fully stocked parts warehouse in Cumbria, backed by full technical back-up, TGB is a brand that offers its growing band of enthusiasts access to reliable two wheeling at a price that won’t break the budget, and won’t leave them stranded at the roadside.
