Default Fitting engine parts

I've got a 2001 TD4 and its been running rough for a while now, rough idle, racing, stalling, smoke etc. I've just had a diagnostic check done at an independant repairer and the result was the fuel rail pressure regulator. What i want to know is if you need to use a computer to set the new pressure regulator up or could i just fit a new one myself.

Thanks.

You'll be fine fitting it yourself.However...... often its not the pressure reg at fault, try unplugging it and looking at the female connectors in the plug on the end of the loom.Often the fault is there,LR even do a replacement piece of harness to repair it.

messed about with the connections today, disconnected them and sprayed with wd40. driving home from work today was like driving a different car, so will get new connection and loom part. been running crap for months and it was only a bad connection
