Default Drink-drive limit in Ireland to be cut to 50mg

Drink-drive limit in Ireland to be cut to 50mg

The drink-drive limit in Ireland will be cut by the end of 2009, ministers announced today.

The current limit of 80mg alcohol per 100ml blood will be cut to 50mg, with a lower limit of 20mg for learner drivers and people who drive for work
.

Hmmm. Might be a good time to offload the Guiness shares.
Good idea to have a lower limit for learners and working drivers, though why not just make it 20 across the board? It is here and many other countries.

Why not just impose an outright ban? Solve all the problems.

Ban it completely and that will put just about every country pub out of business, a sensible limit that allows for a drink is a more reasoned approach in my opinion.

I totaly agree, also raise the legal drinking age to 21, this may stop some of the drink related problems.
