Talking De Catted V8i passes MOT

My Disco passed its MOT Last Thursday. Not remarkable you might say. Since October it has been running ( a lot better I might add) with a Rimmer Stainless steel sports exhaust system in place of the original Catalyst system.

I did not pre warn the MOT station of what I had done but I did display some crucial information on the Dashboard, namely:

Chassis Number SALL*********
Engine No *********
Seating Capacity 7
Gross Vehicle Weight 2720kgs

"Although equipped to run on LPG this vehicle is presented for test running on petrol"

My particular vehicle (1993) has a decal on the rear door saying "Catalyst" which I did not cover, remove or disguise.

It passed with flying colours without a warning, advice note or even a comment.

This in my view confirms that pre 1994 Landrovers do not have to retain their Catalytic converters. This is because they are not classed as "Passenger cars" by virtue of their Gross Vehicle Weight and seating capacity being greater than 5.
