Unhappy Ignition...intermittent Disco V8i

Anyone any suggestions.?.being quite new to LR..I really don't have a clue why sometimes engine turns over but occasionally will not..(completely dead).I have recently had a gas conversion, but this appears to be excellent so far...I have not had the vehicle long enough to know whether the problem existed before the conversion or not...could this be related to the cobra immobilisor or LR alarm. Apart from this problem I am so pleased with this vehicle. I drive around with a permanent grin

I´m sorry because I have no experience with V8I, since my Disco is TDI300, but: your problem is only by start with gas?
The starter moves or is it dead too?(to discard inmovilisor)

No German, this problem appears when starting on petrol
the dash lights all come on and all appears well, but on turning the key....nothing!...not a sound, but if I try again a few times it eventually starts...what I normally do is get out of the car reset the alarm and the turn it off again then try to start it . I don't know if this works or is just coincidental.

In TDI 300 dash, a red key symbol lights on when inmovilizor is working. Did you see this in yours?
Are the batteries from the remote control ok?
(presence from remote deactivates inmovilizor)
Did you control battery terminals (under the hood)? If terminals are dirty, by start current a great fall of tension occurs.
Hope you understand my poor english.

Thanks German,
I will check the things you have suggested and let you know...by the way I understand your English..it's better than most of the English I hear in Land Rover Parts departments in the U.K.

Further to my Ignition problem...I have found that if I blip the remote and turn the alarm on then off again it starts every time,

Unhappy

Johnm,

I am having the same problem with my 1993 Disco diesel, have
had the alarm unit out but apart from cleaning the contact of a
relay attached to it externally I have found no obvious fault.
The fault has not returned since I did this but that was only yesterday :-)

Did you solve the problem?

Bob
